By clicking on Virtual
Pursuit on your PADD, you agree to the following Official Rules for the Vir-Con
Virtual Pursuit Contest (“Contest”).
If you do not agree to the Official Rules, you may not play.
I. Eligibility.
You must be 18 years of age
or older as of August 1, 2002. Employees, directors, officers and agents of
virtual-conventions, llc, Why Communications, Paramount Pictures Corporation,
and their respective parents, sisters, subsidiaries and affiliates, and any
other person or entity directly associated with this Contest (collectively,
“Sponsor”), and all immediate family members and/or persons living in the same
households as such persons, are not eligible. This Contest of skill is void
where restricted or prohibited.
II. Virtual Pursuit
Contest.
1. Virtual Pursuit Contest will be played throughout the
virtual convention August 2-4, 2002 during the “Contest Period” by all
attendees with General Admission, Preferred or Latinum passes. Free or paid Star Trek Mall pass holders may not participate.
2. Players must search, find and click on objects
throughout the Vir-Con virtual convention center and it’s surrounding
environment. The sixty-four (64)
objects can be found anywhere, both in plain view and hidden inside other
objects or spaces. There is a
verified way to find and click on every object. The player will receive a date
and time stamp, which is updated each time an object, is found and based on the
server clock and measured to one millisecond. There is no disputing the official clock for any
reason. This Contest of skill is
void where restricted or prohibited.
3.
Each object has an assigned experience point
value. The total amount of experience points is 1,701,000. The player with the most experience points found in the fastest time base based the date/time stamp shall be the winner.
Other winners shall be determined by the next highest experience points and next fastest date/time stamp.
III. How To Play.
1.
Step 1: The first time you click on Virtual
Pursuit you can read the Instructions and indicate your acceptance of the
Official Rules and then click on Start to activate your Virtual Pursuit
counter.
Step 2: Click on objects and characters to add to your experience
points. You can check you current
experience point total by right-clicking on your screen name in the Nickname
list and selecting Member Profile.
Step
3: Click on Virtual Pursuit
on your PADD to review standings.
2. Contest.
Participate beginning 10:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST) August 2,
2002 until 2:00 p.m. PST on August 4, 2002 (“Contest Period”).
3. Other Entry Information. Entries will be deemed made
by the authorized account holder logged into Vir-Con based on compliance with
the rules. The authorized account
holder is deemed to be the natural person who has activated his/her account at
www.vir-con.net. Sponsor assumes
no responsibility for lost, late, mis-delivered, mis-directed or incomplete
entries, or for any computer, online or technical malfunctions that may occur.
Only one person may enter per each
authorized e-mail account.
IV. Winner Notification.
Winners
will be notified by email or by phone at the Sponsor’s discretion on or about
August 10, 2002, unless later selected as an alternate winner. Winners will be requested to confirm
receipt of notification within two business days of notice via email to an
email address that will be supplied in the notification of winning, or they
will be disqualified, and alternate winner will be selected from the next highest
player not already chosen as a winner.
V. Prizes.
One (1) first prize winner will each receive official Star Trek merchandise of approximate retail value: $250. See Quick Help from the Vir-Con
2002 home page or your PADD for a complete listing.
Five (5) second prize winners will each receive official Star Trek merchandise of approximate retail value: $85. See Quick Help from the
Vir-Con 2002 home page or your PADD for a complete listing.
Ten (10) third prize winners will each receive official Star Trek merchandise of approximate retail value: $35. See Quick Help from the
Vir-Con 2002 home page or your PADD for a complete listing.
Approximate Total Value of
All Prizes: $1,075.
No requests for substitution
transfer or cash equivalent of prize permitted. All prizes will be
awarded. Sponsor reserves the
right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value should a prize come
unavailable. All taxes on prizes
are the sole responsibility of the winners.
The winners may be required
to provide Sponsor with complete winner information, including social security
number. Winners may be
disqualified and/or an alternate winner selected if: the notified winner does
not respond to the winner notification within five (5) business days after
Sponsor sends it, any prize notification is undeliverable or any prize is
returned. Acceptance of a prize
constitutes permission for Sponsor to use a winner’s name, biographical
information, address (city and state only), statements, photograph, voice
and/or likeness for advertising and promotional purposes without compensation,
unless prohibited by law, in all media, now known or hereafter devised, in
perpetuity, throughout the universe. This provision is void where prohibited.
VI. Conditions of
Entry.
If for any reason the
Contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer
virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or
any other causes beyond the control of Sponsor which corrupt or affect the
administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this
Sweepstakes, Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, Sponsor
reserves the right to terminate, cancel or modify the Trivia Contest and these
Official Rules, and/or to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry
process. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, omission,
interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission,
communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or
alteration of, entries. Sponsor is not responsible for any problems or technical
malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems,
servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email or
entry to be received by Sponsor on account of technical problems or traffic
congestion on the Internet or at any web site, or any combination thereof,
including any injury or damage to participant’s or any other person’s computer
related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this
Trivia Contest. CAUTION: ANY
ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE
LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE SWEEPSTAKES IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL
LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK
DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH ENTRANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. By entering this Trivia Contest you
agree to release Sponsor from any and all liability arising from your
participation in the Trivia Contest and/or use or possession of any Prize.

302, Venice, CA 90291.
VIII. Other.
This Contest is governed by
our Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy for Vir-con 2002, and by
the laws of the State of California, U.S.A. If any provision of these Official
Rules is inconsistent with the Terms of Use or our Privacy Policy, these
Official rules shall govern. Any
dispute arising hereunder shall be brought in Los Angeles County, California.
